Horizon Tube Mic on Grammy Winning Albums
Just a quick blog update on the Grammy’s this morning. Just as many people cheer for their hometown team, we at Lauten Audio were cheering for the Grammy nominated artists that we know used a Lauten Audio product during their studio recording. That makes 3 Grammy’s this year! They include Eagles, Foo Fighters and Jim Lauderdale. Congratulations to all of you; and to your producers and engineers, thanks for choosing Lauten Audio.
The Horizon tube microphone was used in various applications on all three of these Grammy winning albums. For a new brand, I’d say we’re doing pretty well at getting used on hit records.

LAUTEN AUDIO CUTS THROUGH THE MIX ON JIM LAUDERDALE’S GRAMMY-NOMINATED “THE BLUE GRASS DIARIES”
SANTA CLARA, CA, February 5th, 2008 – On Jim Lauderdale’s 2008 Grammy-nominated album, “The Blue Grass Diaries,” producer, engineer and recording artist Randy Kohrs cut through the mix with Lauten Audio’s Horizon tube microphone. The Horizon was used exclusively on fiddles, all of the second guitar overdubs, and female harmonies.
"On the female harmonies, the Horizon helped the soft voices cut through the hard hitting vocals of Jim and me without having to eq all the body out of them,” said Randy Kohrs. “For me, that’s a lot of finite eq work I never have to do with the Horizon tube microphone. On the fiddle, it helped the lower sweet, woody tones speak through a barrage of mid-range instruments, like the banjo and resonator guitar, and brought out the clarity. Company to debut three new studio microphones at the 2008 Winter NAMM show
SANTA CLARA, CA, January 7, 2008 – Lauten Audio, a professional microphone maker, will debut three new studio microphones at the 2008 Winter NAMM show in booth #6983; the LT-381, FC-357 and ST-221. ST-221 stereo pair
ST-221 is a small diaphragm tube microphone that will be packaged in pairs. Dr. Chen brings 25 years of engineering and research experience to the company

Dr. Chen will be responsible for Lauten Audio's microphone engineering and design. Dr. Chen holds a BS degree in Physics and Masters and Ph.D. degrees with focus on aerodynamics and computer simulation from a top university in the Netherlands. With his academic background and experience, he has been able to apply Physics theorems to improve capsule and circuitry designs in microphones. He is intimately familiar with the latest research in Acoustic theory, and developed a capsule simulation model that has proven to be invaluable in the development of high-quality capsules. Dr. Chen has also been working on a revolutionary microphone testing system that links qualitative observations from hearing tests to quantitative physical properties and attributes.

LAUTEN AUDIO HORIZON ON SALLY JAYE - AMARILLO
Today we are shining light on another project that used Lauten Audio microphones.
Sally Jaye recently released her first full length record titled “Amarillo”. Sally Jaye originally comes from the south and now resides in Los Angeles. I have had the opportunity to see her live and can tell you she’s just as impressive live as she is on Amarillo. The album was produced by Will Holden, engineered and mixed by Mike Terry who’s credits include; Foo Fighters, Eagles and Jessica Simpson to name a few and mastered by Gavin Lurrsen of Lurrsen Mastering. Pacific Island Audio to Distribute for Lauten Audio in Canada
We are proud to announce that we have teamed up with Pacific Island Audio and Ron Sluzar to handle our Canadian distribution. Ron has many years into the professional audio industry and we feel great to have his company on board. Ron and I first started talking at winter NAMM this year.
